Developments in the Videogate investigation involving Black Cube

The Videogate scandal concerns 26 hours of covertly recorded footage that triggered a criminal investigation in January 2026. The footage, produced by the private intelligence firm Black Cube, alleged corruption involving the construction company Cyfield and the administration of President Nikos Christodoulides. The material was submitted to the Attorney General, George Savvides, by attorney Antonis Dimitriou, who asserts that the evidence is authentic and verified by Cypriot authorities. However, an independent criminal investigator, Andreas Paschalides, concluded that the footage is edited and lacks evidentiary value, finding no criminal wrongdoing by the government. The government supports the findings of the investigator, with spokesperson Victoras Papadopoulos stating that the recordings show nothing illicit. Meanwhile, the opposition party AKEL has criticized the government’s response, alleging a conflict of interest in the investigation process.
