44-year-old man referred to Limassol Criminal Court for sexual assault charges

A 44-year-old Greek Cypriot man has been referred to the Limassol Criminal Court to face charges of attempted rape, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and psychological violence. The case follows a complaint filed by his 58-year-old mother-in-law, who resides in a vulnerable state due to mental health issues. The complainant alleged that the suspect repeatedly harassed her for sexual contact despite her refusals, with a significant incident occurring on Saturday, July 11, at her residence. Following the initial complaint, authorities arrested the suspect, who was held in custody for five days before being released under restrictive conditions. During questioning, the man denied the attempted rape charge but admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the woman on two occasions, citing high sexual drive as his justification. A key piece of evidence in the case is reported to be video material recorded by a third party during the incident. The trial is scheduled to begin in mid-September.
