Authorities clear unauthorised caravans from Larnaca beach

On Tuesday, July 21, authorities launched a removal operation at a public beach near the Larnaca Nautical Club following the expiry of an ultimatum issued by Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou. The Larnaca District Administration, assisted by the Larnaca Municipality and the police, carried out the removal of illegal caravans and structures. Owners had been issued formal warnings the previous Saturday after public complaints regarding restricted access, hygiene, and sanitation issues. By 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, officials reported that four caravans had been seized. Large boulders were placed at the beach entrance to prevent future access by large vehicles. Similar operations are expected to occur at a neighbouring beach containing wooden shacks and in the Pyla area where other caravans are present. Owners were informed that they would be held liable for the costs associated with the removal of their property.
