Israeli airstrike kills family of six in Gaza City

On Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City resulted in the deaths of Firas Al-Masri, his wife Salsabel, and their four children. Local health officials confirmed the fatalities, reporting that the strike caused a fire at the family home. The Israeli military confirmed conducting the operation, stating their target was a Hamas fighter and that the outcome is currently under investigation. Additionally, the Israeli military reported killing three Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants since Friday, alleging that two of them were involved in the October 7, 2023, attacks and hostage-taking. According to Gaza health authorities, more than 1,150 Palestinians have died in Israeli strikes since the October ceasefire agreement, while four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza during the same period. Israel maintains that its operations are focused on targeting militants, whereas Palestinian officials emphasize high civilian casualties. Hamas does not publicly disclose its internal casualty figures. Ongoing military actions continue despite the ceasefire arrangement that halted the most intense phase of combat.
