Collision between two ships at Souda port

At approximately 10:00 a.m., a collision occurred between the passenger ship Elyros and the cargo ship Iosif K. in the port of Souda, Crete. The Elyros was departing for Piraeus, while the Iosif K. was maneuvering to enter the harbor. The Elyros was carrying 100 passengers, 32 private vehicles, and between 74 and 95 trucks, while the Iosif K. was carrying 84 trucks. There were no injuries reported among passengers or crew, and no marine pollution resulted from the incident. The Elyros sustained surface abrasions and returned to the dock, while the Iosif K. suffered damage to its bow. Both vessels have been prohibited from sailing pending inspection by a classification society to determine their seaworthiness. Port authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
