Collision between two ships at the port of Souda in Crete

On the morning of the incident, the passenger ferry Elyros collided with the Ro-Ro cargo ship Iosif K. at the port of Souda in Crete. At the time of the collision, the Elyros was departing for its scheduled route to Piraeus, while the Iosif K. was maneuvering to dock. The Elyros was carrying 100 passengers, 32 private vehicles, and between 74 and 95 trucks, depending on the source report. The Iosif K. was carrying 84 trucks. No injuries to passengers or crew were reported, and there was no environmental pollution. The Elyros sustained minor surface damage, while the Iosif K. suffered damage to its bow. Both ships were prohibited from sailing by the port authorities pending inspection by a classification society to confirm their seaworthiness. An official investigation into the circumstances of the collision is currently underway.
