Cyprus concludes cultural program review for EU Council presidency

Deputy Culture Minister Lina Kassianidou presented the cultural report following the conclusion of Cyprus' EU Council presidency. She identified the international promotion of Cypriot artists as the program's greatest achievement. The initiative included 18 musical performances, 18 art and archaeological exhibitions, seven dance performances, and nine events covering theatre, poetry, and cinema. Over 500 artists participated in these events held across 30 countries, including Germany, France, Denmark, and Belgium. A significant policy milestone mentioned was the progress on the AgoraEU legislative framework, which is designed to support culture, media, and civil society from 2028 to 2034. During the presidency, the Council adopted a partial general approach regarding the draft regulation for this new financial program. Kassianidou highlighted that the ministry is now focusing on providing guidance to cultural organizations to improve future utilization of these European funds.
