Cyprus launches new iJustice electronic platform for judicial proceedings

Cyprus officially launched the upgraded iJustice platform this Monday to digitize judicial services for judges, lawyers, and the public. Developed in collaboration with the Cyprus Bar Association and the judiciary, the system replaces the previous eJustice project, which was discontinued following a two-year delay and a four-year development process. Work on the new system commenced in March 2025 under the guidance of Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nikodemos Damianou. The platform provides electronic filing, document exchange, and supports the newly established Commercial and Admiralty Courts. By 2027, the government plans to integrate criminal courts and police fine payment systems, while exploring the potential use of artificial intelligence. Officials stated that the digital transition aims to reduce in-person court visits, streamline procedures, and facilitate remote work for legal professionals.
