UN Secretary-General to visit Syria this week

The Secretary-General intends to reaffirm the UN's commitment to supporting the government and the Syrian people during the nation's political transition and reconstruction efforts. Discussions are expected to address the consequences of long-term conflicts and the importance of respecting Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. Additionally, Guterres plans to engage with representatives from civil society, women's organizations, and various local communities to hear their perspectives. The agenda also includes a visit to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).
