Prominent criminal lawyer found dead in his Athens office
On the evening of Tuesday, July 21, prominent criminal lawyer Stavros Georgiou was discovered dead in his law office located on 3rd Septemvriou Street in central Athens. His 16-year-old twin daughters, who had been unable to reach him by phone for hours, arrived at the premises and, with the help of a building doorman, gained entry to discover his body. The victim was reportedly found naked in a fetal position amidst blood and scattered clothing. Authorities noted there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting the victim may have known his assailant. While police investigations are ongoing, initial reports indicate a likely criminal act. Forensic experts are examining the scene, with some accounts suggesting blunt force trauma to the head, possibly from fists, kicks, or impact against furniture, rather than injuries from weapons. The Department of Organized Crime has taken over the case to determine the exact circumstances of his death.
