Ministry of education confirms ban on electronic devices in primary schools

The Cypriot Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that the use and possession of mobile phones, tablets, and personal computers are strictly prohibited in primary schools. This policy, which aligns with existing regulations in secondary education, will be enforced for the upcoming school year beginning on September 14. According to the ministry's updated school guide, students are forbidden from bringing these devices onto school premises entirely. The decision aims to prevent student isolation and anti-social behavior caused by excessive screen time during breaks. Authorities emphasize that school telephones remain available for emergency communication between children and their parents. The policy also serves to protect the privacy of students and prevent the unauthorized leakage of personal data.
