Greek singer Mary Linda dies at age 90

Renowned Greek popular music singer Mary Linda passed away at the age of 90. She had spent her final years at the Athens Nursing Home, as reported by Spiros Sigouros. Linda rose to fame in the 1960s, forming an iconic musical and personal partnership with Manolis Chiotis. Their collaboration included appearances in Greek cinema and a notable 1964 tour in the United States, where they performed at the White House for President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1961, she won first prize at the Thessaloniki Song Festival for the song "Apagogi." Throughout her career, she worked with prominent composers including Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis. Her debut recording was the song "Pikro Potiri" by Kostas Kaplanis. She gained international recognition, with admirers including Maria Callas and Anthony Perkins.
