Cyprus Electricity Market Association meets with Minister of Energy
On Tuesday, the Cyprus Electricity Market Association (SAH), led by its President George Chrysochos, held a meeting with the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, represented by Minister Michalis Damianos. The primary goal of the discussion was to address the functional challenges currently hindering the Competitive Electricity Market. SAH officials presented specific recommendations aimed at fostering competition and reducing electricity costs for households and businesses. The participants engaged in an exchange of views regarding potential legislative, institutional, and policy interventions to accelerate market maturity. Key topics included ensuring equal operating conditions for all market participants and leveraging private sector energy investments to benefit consumers. SAH emphasized that a stable, transparent, and predictable market framework is essential for achieving energy security and meeting national environmental goals.
