The Electricity Market Association (SAH), led by its president Giorgos Chrysochos, held a series of meetings this week to address the development and stability of the Cypriot electricity market. On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the association met with the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michalis Damianos, to discuss policy, institutional, and legislative interventions aimed at fostering competition and lowering energy costs for consumers and businesses.

Following the ministerial discussion, the association met on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with the Basic Regulated Production Activity unit of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). These discussions focused on operational challenges, transparency, and the need to create a predictable market environment. The association emphasized that its primary goal is to ensure that private sector investments effectively benefit Cypriot households. By maintaining open lines of communication with government officials and the EAC, the SAH aims to facilitate the maturation of the electricity market, enhance the sustainability of the electrical system, and improve the overall efficiency of energy distribution across the country.
