Cabinet approves grant scheme for domestic solar water heating systems

The cabinet approved a €1 million grant scheme on Wednesday to support the installation or replacement of domestic solar water heating systems. Managed by the Renewable Energy and Energy Saving Fund, the program aims to reduce household energy costs and facilitate the country's energy transition. Eligible applicants will receive €500 in the general category, while residents of mountainous areas and vulnerable households qualify for €900. Only approved equipment and certified installers are permitted to ensure technical compliance. Applications remain open until December 20, 2026, or until the limit of 2,000 successful applications is reached. Energy Minister Michael Damianos announced the initiative, emphasizing that it provides financial incentives for citizens to upgrade their homes. Separately, the cabinet also approved a national breastfeeding policy for 2026–2030.
