Daniel Chant, a 69-year-old French modeling agent, was found dead at his residence in Colombes, near Paris. The Nanterre prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of death and ordered an autopsy. Chant was under investigation by French authorities for his alleged role in supplying women to Jeffrey Epstein, facing multiple accusations of rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking. His name appeared in over 1,000 unsealed U.S. court documents related to the Epstein case. While he had not yet been formally questioned, Chant publicly denied the allegations, claiming Epstein had exploited his trust. In a 2014 email to Epstein, Chant referred to his recruitment of women as "fishing." His death follows that of another modeling agent, Jean-Luc Brunel, who was found dead in prison in 2022 while awaiting trial on similar charges. Jeffrey Epstein himself died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
