Achilleas Papadimitriou, a graduate of Makarios III Lyceum in Larnaca, has secured a position in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus after achieving one of the ten highest marks in the 2026 Pan-Cyprian Access Examinations. Currently serving his mandatory service in the National Guard, Papadimitriou confirmed that he intends to enroll in the program, as it aligns with his academic interests.

Reflecting on his success, Papadimitriou described the result as entirely unexpected, noting that he had previously doubted his chances of admission to his preferred department. He highlighted the intense pressure during the preparation period, particularly after the mathematics exam, and credited the encouragement of his parents, friends, and teachers for helping him persevere through the challenges.

This academic milestone is part of the broader 2026 examination cycle in Cyprus. While expressing his personal joy, Papadimitriou also shared his happiness for his former classmates who successfully secured their own desired university placements.
