Cypriot fencer Alexandros Tofalidis has concluded his participation at the World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong. The 33-year-old athlete, currently ranked 98th in the world, competed in the foil event, which featured a total of 172 participants.

Tofalidis performed well during the group stage, securing four wins and two losses, which earned him the 34th seed for the knockout rounds. However, his campaign ended on Wednesday, July 22, after a 15-4 defeat in the round of 128 against Leong Chit Seong from Macau. This follows his preparation in London for an exhibition match marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and his performance at the European Fencing Championships last month.

Looking ahead, Tofalidis is scheduled to continue his international season with upcoming appearances at the Commonwealth Fencing Games in Nigeria from August 9 to 14, followed by the Mediterranean Games, where fencing events begin on August 22.
