Cyprus police conduct nationwide crime prevention operation
During the night of July 23, 2026, the Cyprus Police conducted a series of organized patrols and inspections across urban areas to prevent criminal activities and ensure public order. The operation resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals for various offenses, including vehicle arson, possession of illegal narcotics, carrying knives, and possession of counterfeit documents and currency.
Throughout the operation, authorities inspected 680 drivers and 227 passengers, while also carrying out 42 checks on commercial establishments, leading to three formal complaints. Traffic enforcement was a significant focus, resulting in 339 citations, including 89 for speeding. Nine traffic-related cases are currently under investigation, and five vehicles were impounded. Additionally, officers conducted 165 alcohol tests, which yielded six positive results. The initiative aims to enhance public safety and address delinquency across the island.
