One month after a devastating double earthquake struck Venezuela, the official death toll has reached 5,398. On June 24, two seismic tremors measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude occurred within 39 seconds of each other, causing massive destruction primarily in the northern coastal state of La Guaira near Caracas. Parliament President Jorge Rodriguez released the latest figures, marking a slight increase from the previous count of 5,346.

Authorities report 16,740 injuries and 17,265 people left homeless. Approximately 23,335 survivors are currently sheltered in 107 temporary camps, with some facilities lacking basic access to running water or sanitation systems. While the government has not provided an official count of missing persons, the United Nations had previously estimated that the number of casualties could reach as high as 50,000 shortly after the disaster occurred.
