On Thursday, July 23, 2026, the Department of Labour Inspection of the Cypriot Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announced an mandatory work suspension due to an orange-level weather alert. The directive prohibits all heavy and medium-duty outdoor labor, as well as the delivery of products via bicycles, motorcycles, and personal mobility devices, such as e-scooters, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

This order applies specifically to the interior of the country, defined as areas with an altitude below 300 meters located more than 10 kilometers from the coastline. For light work or areas outside the orange alert zone, employers must continue to adhere to the existing 2014, 2020, and 2023 Safety and Health at Work regulations regarding heat stress. The measure is a direct response to extreme temperatures, aimed at protecting workers from hazardous heat conditions as forecasted by the Meteorological Department.
