The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics has identified specific genes and biological mechanisms affected by microgravity during space travel. Led by Professor George Spyrou, the team used bioinformatics to study how cellular stress, inflammation, and cardiovascular function respond to space conditions. The project, supported by the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation, aims to protect astronaut health while potentially uncovering new insights into disease biology on Earth.
