Cyprus has concluded its six-month term holding the presidency of the Council of the European Union, marking the end of a demanding period characterized by significant legislative milestones. Maria Panayiotou, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, confirmed that the Cypriot presidency successfully managed the portfolios for Agriculture and Fisheries, as well as Environment and Climate Policy, areas which are typically handled by multiple ministries in larger member states.

During the tenure, Cyprus oversaw the completion of six trilogues, five general approaches and Council conclusions, and six major European agreements. Key achievements focused on reforms to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the management of water resources, and the promotion of a socially fair green transition. The ministry noted that these accomplishments establish a framework for the European Union's primary sector and environmental policy for the coming years, demonstrating the capacity of the country to lead complex multinational initiatives despite its size.
