A 41-year-old man was seriously injured in Trachoni, Limassol district, on the afternoon of July 23, 2026, during a vehicle recovery operation. The incident occurred around 13:15 when a towing mechanism—described variously as a strap, hook, or winch—detached from the lead vehicle, which was driven by the victim's 34-year-old brother. The detached component struck the windscreen of the second vehicle, hitting the 41-year-old driver in the head.

The victim was transported to a private hospital in Limassol, where he remains in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Law enforcement officers, including members of the Episkopi Police Station and Limassol Traffic Police, arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. A preliminary alcohol test performed on the 34-year-old driver returned a zero reading.
