Recall of Suntree miniature circuit breakers due to safety risks
The Department of Electromechanical Services in Cyprus has announced the voluntary recall of a miniature circuit breaker (MCB) from the brand Suntree. The product, commonly used in photovoltaic and energy storage systems, was found to be non-compliant with the essential safety requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
Authorities reported that the circuit breaker failed dielectric properties testing, creating a risk of electric shock for users and potential damage to property. Despite this failure, the Department noted that the likelihood of an actual incident is remote given the nature and degree of the defect.
While the Department recommends that owners replace the faulty equipment, it clarified that immediate replacement is not strictly mandatory. Consumers are advised to monitor the situation, as the importer has already initiated a voluntary removal of the product from the market.
