On the afternoon of Thursday, July 23, 2026, a life-saving operation took place at Molos beach in Limassol, specifically at the LEM15 station near the "Thalassaki" area. Around 7:00 p.m., four individuals were spotted struggling between two breakwaters and calling for help. While bystanders initially mistook their pleas for a prank, lifeguards identified the emergency and responded immediately using a jet ski.

The operation revealed that two individuals were battling rough waves, while about 15 meters away, a foreign national was struggling to keep his exhausted companion afloat. Lifeguards successfully extracted the distressed man from the water and provided initial first aid on the beach. Although the man regained consciousness, he had ingested a significant amount of seawater and exhibited signs of exhaustion, potentially exacerbated by having eaten shortly before entering the water.

Following the rescue, the man was transported by ambulance to the Limassol General Hospital for further medical examination and treatment. The incident highlights the critical role of the Limassol Lifeguard Unit in ensuring public safety at the beach. Authorities have emphasized the necessity of his hospitalization to monitor his condition after swallowing large amounts of water.
