The Supreme Court of Cyprus, acting in its first-instance jurisdiction, has dismissed a habeas corpus application filed by 40-year-old Russian national Serazhudin Actulaev. This ruling clears the path for his potential extradition to the United States, where he is wanted on charges related to cyber fraud. The court's decision follows a previous ruling by the Larnaca District Court on May 11, 2026, which had formally approved the American extradition request.

Actulaev was originally arrested in Cyprus on May 22, 2025, after arriving on the island to attend a relative's wedding. He has since been held at the Nicosia Central Prisons. His legal team had contested the extradition on the grounds of insufficient evidence and a lack of reasonable suspicion regarding the alleged criminal activity. The case has attracted diplomatic attention, with the Russian Embassy in Cyprus closely monitoring the proceedings.

Following the dismissal of the habeas corpus application, Actulaev’s legal representatives now have the option to file an appeal as their final judicial recourse. The extradition process remains stalled pending the outcome of any potential appeal, while the suspect remains in custody.
