OFI Crete is actively pursuing the return of Spanish winger Aitor Cantalapiedra to Greece to bolster its squad ahead of the upcoming season. The 29-year-old player, currently under contract with the Brazilian top-flight club Vitoria, is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations with the Cretan team regarding a proposed two-year contract.

OFI, which secured a spot in the league phase of a European competition, is prioritizing roster upgrades to handle the increased fixture load. Aitor, who played for Panathinaikos between 2020 and 2024, tallied 24 goals and 15 assists across 95 appearances, though his career was notably disrupted by a cruciate ligament injury suffered in a 2022 match against Aris. While some local media initially reported the player's age as 30, subsequent reporting clarified he is 29.

If the deal is finalized, the club plans to have the winger join the team during its main preparation stage in the Netherlands. Currently, both parties are working to resolve final details to conclude the transfer as soon as possible.
