Google has launched the AI & Economy ATLAS, a comprehensive large-scale study documenting how artificial intelligence is being integrated into professional and daily life. Released in late July 2026, the report, known as ATLAS v1.0, is based on the analysis of 15 million anonymous user interactions with tools including Gemini, Google Search's AI Mode, and the Gemini API.

The research spans 150 countries, 140 languages, 800 professional occupations, and 4,000 distinct tasks. It provides a detailed snapshot of how technology is currently being applied across various industrial sectors. The data highlights that while AI adoption is widespread, the technology currently functions primarily as a collaborative assistant for users rather than a complete replacement for human labor.

This study serves as a milestone in tracking the economic impact of emerging technologies. By providing this extensive dataset, Google aims to shed light on a rapidly changing landscape where AI capabilities continue to expand and evolve. The findings suggest that although the integration of AI is broad, its current application remains largely superficial, marking only the initial stage of a long-term shift in global labor markets.
