The Cyprus Addiction Treatment Authority (AAEK) issued a public warning on July 24, 2026, regarding the presence of hazardous psychoactive substances in products marketed as CBD, CBG, or "herbal" items. These products, which are sold in various forms including vape liquids, disposable e-cigarettes, oils, plant flowers, resins, and edibles, do not guarantee safety despite their labels.

Consumers are urged to avoid these products due to the risk of severe health reactions, such as tachycardia, breathing difficulties, confusion, panic attacks, unconsciousness, seizures, and poisoning. The AAEK is monitoring the situation through the National Early Warning System in coordination with national and European authorities. Individuals who experience symptoms after using such products are advised to seek immediate medical assistance at the nearest emergency department.
