In July 2026, the municipalities of Ierokipia and Paphos received new 8x4 waste collection trucks to enhance local sanitation infrastructure. The Municipality of Ierokipia accepted its vehicle on July 23, while the Municipality of Paphos received its equipment on July 24.

These acquisitions are part of the 'THALIA 2021-2027' Cohesion Policy Program and a specific initiative by the Department of Environment focused on reducing solid municipal waste from coastal hotels and related production sites in the Limassol and Paphos districts. The Paphos municipality noted that this delivery is part of a broader equipment upgrade project valued at over €1.6 million, which is fully covered by European Union funding.

The initiative aims to improve waste collection efficiency, promote the circular economy, and enhance environmental protection across the region. By modernizing their fleets, both municipalities intend to streamline their sanitation services and work toward more sustainable urban waste management practices. These projects are being implemented in collaboration with the Department of Environment and relevant health services to ensure long-term environmental sustainability for the benefit of local residents.
