Worker dies following grain silo collapse in Koma tou Gialou
A 46-year-old worker, identified as Lokman Hacihasanoglu, died following a tragic accident in the occupied village of Koma tou Gialou on Friday, July 24, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 when a grain silo with a capacity of 2,500 tons, operated by the local grain organization, suddenly collapsed. The structure was fully loaded with wheat at the time of the incident, burying the worker under tons of grain and debris.
Emergency response teams, including police, fire, and civil defense units, arrived at the scene to initiate an urgent rescue operation. After an extensive effort, the worker was extracted from the rubble while still alive and transported to a hospital by ambulance. Despite intensive efforts by medical personnel to stabilize him, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
