Archaeological excavations at the Skalia site in Kissonerga, Cyprus, have concluded for this season. The research project, conducted by the Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (CAARI) and the HARP team under the direction of Dr. Lindy Crewe, has yielded significant insights into one of the island's most important Bronze Age settlements.

The Skalia site is noted for its 800 years of continuous habitation, spanning from 2500 to 1650 BCE. Excavations have successfully tracked the evolution of the settlement and confirmed the existence of one of the world's oldest breweries. This discovery underscores the importance of beer in the social and ceremonial life of the region's inhabitants approximately 4,000 years ago.

Following the conclusion of the fieldwork, Akamas Municipality councilor Neophytos Konstantinou visited the site to meet with the research team. He expressed official support for the project and thanked Dr. Crewe, the researchers, and the students involved. The local municipality continues to advocate for the preservation and promotion of this cultural heritage site.
