Over the weekend of July 26, 2026, the Cyprus Fire Service and Forestry Department responded to multiple emergency incidents across the country. On Sunday, three forest fires occurred: near the Alexigros forest in Klavdia, which burned one hectare of stubble; at Kampos tis Tsakistras in the Paphos forest, which affected five decares of vegetation; and near the Akamas forest at Koloni, which burned two decares of wild vegetation. All three fires were brought under control rapidly due to heavy mobilization of ground and aerial assets. Officials indicated these fires were likely caused by human negligence, possibly from cigarette butts.

In addition to the forest fires, a house in the Nicosia district and a recyclable materials transport truck were damaged by fires on Saturday, both believed to be caused by electrical or mechanical faults. On Monday, July 27, a new fire broke out at the Kalo Chorio firing range in Larnaca during the disposal of National Guard explosives. Emergency crews and aircraft were deployed to contain the blaze, which involved at least two active fronts. Authorities continue to investigate the causes of these incidents while maintaining high vigilance due to extreme climatic conditions.
