A new scientific report published in the journal Nature indicates that the current El Niño phenomenon is expected to be the strongest observed in the last 150 years. This natural fluctuation, combined with anthropogenic climate change, is projected to make 2027 the warmest year on record and trigger extreme weather events globally.

Zeke Hausfather, a climatologist at Berkeley Earth, noted that climate models suggest the intensity of this event will surpass previous records by a significant margin. According to the research, the convergence of this El Niño and ongoing global warming could push average global temperatures up to 1.7°C above pre-industrial levels by 2027. Scientists emphasize that these findings rely on multiple climate models to forecast the potential for unprecedented heat and environmental disruption.
