Manolis Siopis set to return to Turkish football after leaving Panathinaikos
Greek international midfielder Manolis Siopis is departing Panathinaikos to resume his career in the Turkish league. Despite strong interest from Cypriot club APOEL and Greek side Aris Thessaloniki, negotiations have shifted toward a move to Turkey, a country where the 32-year-old previously played for Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor.
Panathinaikos is currently in the final stages of finalizing the transfer and exchanging documentation to release the player. This move is similar to the recent departure of Tin Jedvaj, as the Athens-based club aims to alleviate its budget by offloading the remainder of Siopis's contract, which was originally set to expire in the summer of 2027. The player is expected to be effectively released as a free agent.
While multiple sources confirm that the deal is nearing completion, official announcements from both Panathinaikos and the undisclosed Turkish club are expected in the coming hours to formalize the transition.
