Cyprus hunting season 2026-2027 regulations and updates

The Cyprus Game and Fauna Service has announced that the renewal of hunting licenses for the 2026-2027 season will begin on August 1, 2026, with no increase in fees. The summer hunting season officially commences on Sunday, August 23, 2026, and will be permitted every Sunday through September 13, 2026, as well as on Wednesdays September 2, 9, and 16, 2026.

Strict hunting restrictions will remain in effect to ensure species protection, particularly for turtle doves and quails. For turtle doves, the hunting period is set from September 2 to September 20, 2026, with a personal limit of six birds per outing and 12 for the entire season. The national harvest limit for turtle doves is set at 15,756, and hunters must immediately report each catch via the Artemis Cy application. Similarly, quail hunting, which runs from August 23 to December 27, 2026, is limited to eight birds per outing.

These measures align with European Union environmental directives aimed at sustainable wildlife management. Hunters are required to adhere to these reporting obligations and harvesting caps throughout the season to ensure compliance with national and international regulations.
