A 22-year-old Sri Lankan national has been committed to the Larnaca Criminal Court to face charges of attempted murder, wounding, and causing grievous bodily harm. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 15, and the defendant will remain in custody until the proceedings commence.

The charges stem from an incident in the early hours of Monday, July 20, at a residence in Aradippou. According to police, the suspect and his 33-year-old housemate returned home from a night out in Livadia after consuming alcohol. An argument broke out between the two men, initially starting outside and moving inside the house. The 22-year-old allegedly retrieved two kitchen knives and stabbed the victim seven times, inflicting wounds to his chest, abdomen, left arm, and right palm.

Following the attack, the 33-year-old victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities now report that his health has stabilized and he is no longer considered to be in immediate danger. The investigation into the incident was conducted by officers from the Aradippou Police Station.
