Criminal organization leaders arrested in Dubai

A prominent individual identified as Endik, allegedly the leader of a multinational criminal organization, has been arrested in Dubai. He was captured alongside his subordinate, known as Leonidas, a man of Uzbek origin who was also wanted on an international arrest warrant. The organization is reportedly involved in the illicit trade of illegal cigarettes, as well as extortion, kidnappings, arson, and contract killings targeting members of the so-called Greek Mafia. Members of the group include nationals from Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia.

The Greek authorities have received official confirmation of the arrests from the United Arab Emirates through Interpol and diplomatic channels. While Greece is currently preparing an extradition request, the process has faced complications. Reports indicate that Russia has communicated with the Greek government, asserting that Endik holds Russian citizenship and demanding that his physical safety be protected, citing threats against his life from criminal elements in Greece. One source reports that Russian authorities have effectively blocked the extradition, while others suggest the process for his return to Greece remains underway.
