Pafos FC secures historic Europa League comeback against Hajduk Split

Pafos FC achieved a historic qualification to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on July 30, 2026, by defeating Hajduk Split 4-0 at the Alphamega Stadium. Following a 2-0 loss in the first leg in Croatia, the Cypriot side produced a dominant performance to overturn the deficit. The goals were scored by Jajá (40'), Goldar (90+1'), Biel (93'), and Correia (116') during extra time.

Manager Ricardo Sa Pinto praised the team's resilience, calling the victory an epic performance. Pafos FC will now face Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in the third qualifying round. The first leg is scheduled for August 6, 2026, at the Red Bull Arena, with the return match in Cyprus on August 13. The scheduling order was reversed due to the UEFA Super Cup hosting requirements in Salzburg. The team is also preparing for the upcoming play-off draw on August 3, where they remain potential candidates for the next stage of European competition.
