AEL Limassol close to signing Norwegian midfielder Morten Bjørlo

AEL Limassol is on the verge of signing 30-year-old Norwegian midfielder Morten Bjørlo, who is currently traveling to Cyprus to undergo medical examinations. The club has been actively searching for a reinforcement for the central midfield position, identifying the experienced player as their primary target.

Bjørlo, who primarily operates as a box-to-box midfielder, most recently played for Konyaspor in the Turkish top flight, where he recorded 45 appearances, two goals, and four assists. His departure from Turkey has been contentious; sources report that he unilaterally terminated his contract, citing unpaid wages, despite having one year left on his deal. Konyaspor has indicated an intention to pursue legal action against the player regarding the breach. Prior to his time in Turkey, Bjørlo played extensively in Norway, notably for Rosenborg and Fredrikstad, where he enjoyed a standout 2024 season with 13 goals and six assists in 35 matches.

If the medicals are passed and contract terms are finalized, Bjørlo is expected to sign with the Cypriot club immediately, filling a critical gap in coach Hugo Martins' squad for the upcoming season.
