Orthodox liturgical commemorations for late July 2026

Between July 27 and July 29, 2026, the Orthodox Church commemorated several significant saints. On July 27, the church honored Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr, known as the Healer, who originated from Nicomedia and lived during the reign of Maximian (286–305 AD). His hagiography highlights his medical education and conversion to Christianity.

On July 28, the faithful celebrated Saint Irene Chrysovalantou, a noblewoman from Cappadocia who abandoned worldly life to join the Chrysovalantou Monastery during the reign of Empress Theodora. Following this, on July 29, the Church commemorated Saint Kallinikos the Martyr, a native of Cilicia who was active during the persecutions of Emperor Decius in the 3rd century. Alongside Saint Kallinikos, the Church honored Saint Theodote and her three children, as well as Patriarch Constantine III of Constantinople.

These commemorations involved traditional services and the honoring of various names associated with the respective saints. Historical accounts provided by church tradition emphasize the steadfastness of these figures in the face of intense persecution, illustrating their roles in the early development and expansion of the Christian faith in Asia Minor and beyond.
