Ukrainian drone campaign targets Russian infrastructure and warehouses

Between July 28 and July 31, 2026, Ukrainian forces launched a massive series of drone strikes across Russian territory, targeting Moscow, Volgograd, Perm, Ryazan, and Taganrog. In Moscow, officials reported over 390 drones targeting the region, with most neutralized by air defenses, though residential property damage was recorded. In the Volgograd region, a subsequent drone attack on an energy facility and a Wildberries warehouse resulted in five injuries, according to regional governor Andrei Bocharov.

These operations represent a strategic shift in the conflict, with Ukraine leveraging increased domestic drone production to strike deep into Russian territory. The attacks have notably disrupted the logistics of major retailer Wildberries, which has seen approximately 10% of its storage capacity destroyed across at least seven facilities in recent days, affecting numerous small businesses. While Russia's air defense remains active, the strikes have hit key infrastructure, including oil refineries and distribution hubs, raising concerns about local fuel supply chains.

As these strikes unfolded, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy planned a visit to the White House to request expanded support from U.S. President Donald Trump, highlighting the ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding the conflict. Investigations and recovery efforts at the damaged sites continue as regional authorities assess the extent of the impact on both private enterprises and energy infrastructure.
