Case file on Germasogeia building collapse submitted to Attorney General

The extensive investigative case file concerning the collapse of a block of flats in Germasogeia, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals on Holy Saturday, has been officially submitted to the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus for review and further legal instructions. The investigation was conducted by a specialized team from the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which finalized its work after incorporating expert testimonials and clarifications from various government departments.

The collected evidence includes comprehensive assessments from both a police-appointed private expert and an expert commissioned by the Limassol District Organisation of Local Government (EOA). The investigation focused on evaluating the structural stability of the building, the nature of unauthorized interventions or modifications performed on the property, and potential criminal omissions that may have contributed to the catastrophe. Investigators have now submitted specific recommendations to the legal authorities based on these findings.

The Law Office will now study the file to determine the next procedural steps, including potential prosecutions. This development follows months of intensive evidence gathering aimed at uncovering the sequence of events and identifying responsibility for the structural failure that led to the tragic loss of life.
