Cyprus electricity authority announces August schedule for smart meter installation
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced that the mass installation of smart electricity meters will continue throughout August 2026 across all districts of the country. This infrastructure upgrade is part of a nationwide project to modernize the electricity network.
Work will take place in specific zones within several major municipalities. In Nicosia, installations are scheduled for Strovolos, specifically in the area bounded by Athalassas, Lemesou, John Kennedy, Demostheni Severi, and Strovolou avenues. Limassol operations will cover parts of Mesa Geitonia near Makariou III and Spyrou Kyprianou avenues, including the highway corridor. Larnaca will see activity between Artemidos and Faneromenis avenues toward Mackenzie beach. In the Famagusta district, work is planned in Paralimni near Akropoleos and Agiou Dimitriou streets, as well as the Konnos area. Finally, in Paphos, the project focuses on Geroskipou, south of the Limassol-Paphos highway toward Archiepiskopou Makariou III Avenue.
To ensure safety during the meter replacement, the EAC will implement brief power supply interruptions. Residents in the affected areas are advised that these outages are expected to last no longer than 20 minutes. The authority has expressed its apologies to the public for any inconvenience caused by these necessary maintenance works.
