Cyprus Electricity Authority announces August schedule for smart meter installations

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced that the mass installation of smart electricity meters will continue throughout the month of August 2026 across all districts of the island. This large-scale infrastructure project involves replacing traditional meters with modern digital units to improve grid monitoring and efficiency.

Work will take place in specific zones within major municipalities: Strovolos in Nicosia; Mesa Geitonia and other parts of Limassol; the coastal area of Larnaca near Mackenzie beach; the Paralimni and Konnos regions in the Famagusta district; and Yeroskipou in Paphos. For safety reasons, the authority warns residents that each replacement requires a brief power interruption, which is not expected to exceed 20 minutes for each household or business.

This initiative is part of an ongoing nationwide rollout aimed at modernizing the electricity distribution network. The EAC has apologized in advance for any inconvenience caused to the public during these necessary technical operations. No further actions are required from consumers, as the authority manages the transition directly at the local level.
