Electricity Authority of Cyprus continues smart meter rollout in August

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced that it will continue the mass installation of smart electricity meters throughout August 2026 across all districts of the island. This initiative is part of a broader strategic plan to modernize the national power grid, enhance energy efficiency, and transition to digital infrastructure, allowing consumers to monitor their energy consumption in real-time.

Technical crews will conduct installations in specific areas including Strovolos in Nicosia; the Limassol and Mesa Geitonia municipalities in Limassol; sections of Larnaca near Mackenzie Beach; the Paralimni municipality and Konnos area in Famagusta; and the Yeroskipou municipality in Paphos. The EAC specified that for safety reasons, the installation process requires a brief power interruption that is not expected to exceed 20 minutes for each household. Residents in these locations should prepare for these short-term disruptions as crews work daily throughout the month to complete the upgrades.
