On July 27, a wildfire near the Kalo-Chorio military range in Cyprus triggered evacuations for villages including Agia-Anna and Psevdas. Although the newly launched CY-Alert emergency system was intended to warn residents, it suffered a two-hour technical delay, forcing locals to rely on church bells and door-to-door warnings. Civil Defense officials acknowledged the failure and have launched an investigation into both the technical glitch and the decision to conduct munitions disposal during high fire risk conditions.
