International crew returns to Earth after eight-month ISS mission

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, an international crew consisting of NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev returned to Earth. The crew landed safely by parachute southeast of Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft after concluding their 241-day mission on the International Space Station (ISS).

Launched on November 27, 2025, the team spent 241 days in orbit, completing 3,856 orbits around the Earth and traveling over 102 million miles. This mission marked the first flight for Williams and Mikaev, while it was the second for Kud-Sverchkov. During their stay, the crew conducted extensive scientific research and technological demonstrations. Notable work included advancements in cancer treatment research and the refinement of space-based manufacturing techniques for high-performance computer and electronic components. Chris Williams also performed two spacewalks during his time in the laboratory.
