Government holds high-level meeting on Vassiliko Energy Center security
On July 28, 2026, the Cypriot government convened a meeting of all relevant stakeholders to prioritize the security of the Vassiliko Energy Center. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, reflecting the high strategic importance of the infrastructure located in the area.
The discussions focused on a comprehensive security plan designed to enhance prevention, preparedness, and operational coordination. Participants included the Minister of Defense, the Deputy Chief of Police, the Chief of the National Guard, as well as representatives from the Fire Service and various state agencies. Additionally, representatives from all companies operating within the Vassiliko area were present to discuss integrated safety protocols.
Officials reviewed actions already taken and outlined further measures to strengthen security across land, sea, and air sectors. A central pillar of the new security framework is the establishment of a Unified Coordination Center to ensure seamless collaboration between state authorities and private sector entities operating at the site.
